Hey, I know "Newbie Dash" bummed you out a lot, but I promise you, Rainbow Dash's story does continue and DOES get a lot better. I promise!
I will admit, I have kind of forgotten about Newbie Dash now - the episodes after it supressed the memory.

It helps to think of "Newbie Dash" not as the end of the Wonderbolts storyline, but the beginning of the next phase of the Wonderbolts storyline.
It was something that while unpleasant and poorly executed, progressed the character Rainbow Dash, as you'll see later on in Seasons 7 and 8.
That's what helped me get over my initial disappointment with the episode.
