I tried to join, but it said "Sorry! Join requests are closed at this time."  The default settings for groups do not allow anyone to join or submit art.  You have to change the settings to allow that.  In order to allow people to join, you have to click on "Admin Area" on the front page of the group.  Then click on where it says "Manage Members"  There will be a list that says "Founder" "Co-Founders" "Contributors" etc.  Click on the one that says "Members"  It will say "On Home, Members:" look under that where it says "Join Requests" and select either "Are Automatically Approved" or "Are Subject To Vote"  (If you select "Are Subject To Vote" and your'e the only Admin, make sure to set it to 1 vote to approve.)  While you are on that page, if you want to allow members to submit deviations to the group, scroll down to where it says "On Gallery, Members:" and under "Submissions to [Folder Name]:" select either "Are Automatically Approved" or "Are Subject To Vote."  If you have more than one gallery/folder, click on "Show All Folders" and allow submissions for any folders you want to allow members to submit to!  Then click "Save Now" when you are done!  Let me know if you have any questions!
