Honestly if they wanted to do a show geared towards a new demographic they should have done a new series overall with no correlation to TD in my opinion. I'm not angry about it personally. In all honesty, it may help TD become more popular and maybe we will get more competition seasons in the future. But that's what TD is. It's a competition. That's what made it special. As you said, they're gearing it towards kids, but they shouldn't have done it with TD characters. They messed up there in my opinion. I am however still going to watch a few episodes. It's possible that it might actually be funny. Consider it like a bunch of watered down (censored) Stewies from Family Guy. They said in the description that they gave the toddlers teenage tendencies, meaning they're basically teenagers in a toddler's body. I just hope this isn't where TD ends. The fans deserve more than this. I personally don't like the way the writers and creators have treated the fans. They don't take fan suggestions and ideas yet the fans are the ones who keep the show going. If anything, pleasing the fans should be the first priority, but more times than not, it isn't. I wouldn't have minded seeing a Big Brother parody or something, but they kind of ruined the whole aspect of TD that everyone loved.
