I gathered as such. That's pretty much the joke with these characters. 
At first when I heard Jumanji is a video game now, I was thinking “How’d this happen?” but they explain at the beginning of the film. The board game from the first film was discovered and one kis who sees it says “Who plays board games anymore?” and starts playing a video game. Overnight, Jumanji transforms into a game cartridge. Once again, this thing has a mind of its own. It shows that the game is not just one thing, but it can evolve into what it can be to attract potential players into it’s world.
Wow.
I really gotta tell you, after the first film, there’s been a lot of people including me who wanted a replica of the board game. Seriously you look at that thing and you can’t help but say “I want that.” But need I say it, be careful when you play it. You'll never know what the game will unleash.

Again, I think you’ll like Gillan's performance. It’s actually funny that we get to see her play a dork, and she can be a little scared, but it gets good once we see her start kicking some ass.

The hightlights of the film are obviously Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart. I love Johnson's scenes because he was such an ass kicker but it's also funny seeing him frightened at times.
Then you have Kevin Hart who had quite the funny moments. My favorite parts with him are when he explains animals, cause the avatar he plays is a zoologist then the football player inside him would say "How do I know this?!"
