I noticed that too! It's pretty much what people THOUGHT Captain Underpants would be just by seeing the title.

to be fair the toilet gags in the movie where my least fav part

the best gags where the self aware ones or the voice acting (and sock puppets)

I'll go more in depth for my review, but what's important is that the characters find those gags funny, not necessarily us.
