Actually it wasn't announced in a Direct. I guess if your not the big Nintendo nerd I am, you may not know xD
But at some point last year I believe, former president of Nintendo, Mr. Iwata discussed the future plans for Nintendo, and they mentioned their new "dedicated game console" codenamed the NX. It hasn't been confirmed as anything officially, but it actually looks like it will actually either be another home console or more likely a hybrid of a home and handheld console. So possibly handheld gameplay that would be streamed from the console while on the go?
