All I hope is that they got someone other than Pontac and Graff to write the story for Project 2017. If you're gonna make a serious story, don't bring in comedy writers. There's been no comedy anywhere in the trailers or teasers, so that would be a major letdown.

True. I bet every sonic fan is expecting a good story with a serious tune.
Though, IMO, some little jokes won't hurt too much. They might have the power to lift one's spirit in such a era of depression and calamity.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, jokes here and there aren't bad. Take a Sonic story and remove the humor altogether and you get Sonic 06, which of course is not gonna fly with anyone, even the serious story people.
There needs to be a balance. Sonic can be light-hearted, but he also needs to realize that what's going on is no game. Sonic Colors and every game past that has Sonic acting like saving the world is like an office job, just something he does because he has to and it's nothing more than an irritant. He never takes the situation seriously.
Lost World TRIED to make it somewhat serious, but all the plot points felt unearned and a lot of stuff went absolutely nowhere. The Deadly 6 just exist, there's no reason for it or motivation for why they do what they do, no backstory, nothing. They're colorful stereotypes. Why are we beating them up? Because it's a video game and they're the bosses. Oh, okay.

Pretty true. And they said that there will be a new character in this game, I suppose he or she should have a nice backstory or else this new character is ruined.
Exactly. If you're going to give us new characters, good or bad, there has to be something behind them. A motive, a reason for existing, whatever, just don't throw them in there and expect us to care just because they're doing stuff. I wanna battle villains, not playground bullies.
