I think the whole "You only get to be cameo'd once" means many fans can't cameo anymore. Also, using their cameo slot for a brainwashed scene is probably discomforting. I'm personally waiting for a happier time to ask for a cameo.
It only the characters that can only be there once. If you have more then one you can use them again.
